Headshot of Emily Kate, Fantasy Author
Emily Kate Author bio describing her writing, painting, podcasting and quirky home life.

Emily Kate writes uplifting cozy fantasy.

Who is Emily Kate?

She lives in a five-acre farmhouse in Walker, Louisiana, which means she spends an absurd amount of time racketing around on a big orange tractor (the dogs wisely stay on the porch, flocks of opinionated geese and sheep dart out of the way). When she’s not writing, she’s painting (Bombay Inks as her weapon of choice), or punching the clock as a chemist for a radiochemical lab. When she needs rest or relaxation, you can find her kayaking the local bayous and rivers for fresh inspiration.

Emily Kate is a fantasy writer, painter, and podcaster. But most importantly, she openly admits her one crippling addiction: wearing bright red lipstick.

What does Emily Kate create?

Emily Kate aims to write books that feel warm and familiar, but still leave room for transformation and hard choices. She is also host of Quill Pro Quo podcast, a video podcast that showcases talented people in publishing–and the author projects they bring to life. She also reviews books “for all the Old Souls out there” on her YouTube channel, Book Goose.

Emily Kate’s fiction centers on magical heirlooms, tangled families, and protagonists who would very much prefer a quiet life—until they’re pulled into histories larger than themselves. Her stories are rooted in atmosphere, character growth, and emotional stakes.

What makes her stories different?

Emily Kate writes caper-quick adventures–but her stories always stop long enough to let readers dive deep into her characters thoughts and experiences, and allows them to be emersed in village-inspired worlds. Her stories are uplifting and hopeful, and full of quirky warmth.

I love to connect with other authors in or out of my genre. It is a Truth Universally Acknowledged: Writers must befriend other writers! No creative should ever have to create in a vacuum. And it’s important to take leaps and reach out to others.
